Planning for Natural Hazards

If Clallam County experienced a large natural disaster, where would our vulnerabilities be? How do we plan ahead so that we have transportation, communication, and hospital facilities when disaster strikes?

Those are questions that the Hazard Mitigation Plan answers. Partners in the plan are Clallam County, Cities of Forks, Port Angeles, and Sequim, the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, the Port of Port Angeles, Peninsula College, and Olympic Medical Center.

Together this group, with public input, developed a list of hazards, vulnerabilities, and projects that will help reduce the impacts of a natural disaster.

A public hearing will be held in the Clallam County Courthouse, in the Commissioners' meeting room, and January 6, 2004.
