AIR QUALITY
Outdoor and indoor air quality issues are regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Several other agencies monitor air quality and provide information and assistance. For information about specific air pollutants and monitoring programs, please click on the links below.
Outdoor Air Quality
Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) – Monitors air pollution in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties.
Washington State Dept. of Ecology - Works to preserve and enhance the air quality of the state
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – Regulates and monitors air quality nationwide. Their site provides information on regulations and pollutants.
American Lung Association (ALA)– Offers information, advocacy, and research into air quality issues. (Link is to ALA of Washington's website.)
Indoor Air Quality
Healthy Indoor Air for America's Homes – Provides basic information about residential indoor air quality issues to the general public. Collaboration between the EPA, USDA, and Montana State University.
Washington State Dept. of Health (DOH) – Provides consultation, technical assistance, and training to local health jurisdictions and the public about the health effects of indoor air contaminants.
Environmental Health Office of Radiation Protection - The Environmental Radiation Section is the agency within Washington State that deals with radon issues.

Burning Waste Burning garbage is illegal in Washington State. You may burn natural vegetation, but only if you follow local permitting requirements. The smoke must not bother your neighbors.
