Obtaining a Marriage License
Marriage Licenses are available at the County Auditor's Office from 8:30am-4:30 pm Monday thru Friday. The cost is $58.00 (sorry, no credit cards accepted). The price includes a certified copy that will be mailed to you after the wedding. The license must be obtained at least three days before the wedding, but no more than sixty days in advance. We ask that both parties be present when applying for the license. It takes about 20 minutes unless we are having an extremely busy day.
Copies of Marriage Licenses
If you obtained your license from Clallam County, it is kept on file in our office. You may purchase a copy for $1.00 or a certified copy for $3.00. Certified copies are often required for military records, immigration, insurance claims or legal procedings. We can not accept telephone or fax requests. Payment must be made at the time of request. Assist us in finding you license by knowing the names of the parties and the date of the marriage.
Genealogy and Historical Research
We have marriage licenses back to the 1800's. They are often used for reseaching family history. The documents are public record and you are free to come into the Auditor's Office and research during office hours.
