PURPOSE
: The purpose of the Rural Low (R5) zone is to provide areas having a low density rural setting free from commercial, industrial, and moderate density residential developments.

- Private schools with less than 50 students

- RV parks in the western half of the straits regional comprehensive planning area
- Veterinarian clinics/kennels
- Wood manufacturing (small scale)

- Maximum Residential Density: One dwelling unit per 4.8 acres or 1/128 of a standard section subdivision.
- Minimum Lot Size: One acre.
- Minimum Lot Width: 75 feet
- Maximum Width to Depth Ratio: 1/5 (0.20)
- Setbacks:
- Front yard - 45 feet from the right-of-way centerline of a local access street
50 feet from the right-of-way centerline of an arterial street
60 feet from the right-of-way centerline of a highway (or 15-feet from property line, whichever is greater)
- Side yard - 10 feet from property line (or 40 feet from the right-of-way centerline of a side street).
- Rear yard - 15 feet from property line (or 40 feet from the right-of-way centerline of a rear street).
- From Resource Zones - 50 feet (20 feet for accessory structures).
