The Clallam County Corrections Facility was built in 1978 – 1979 and opened in 1980,  originally designed to house 72 inmates with a special detention unit.  It   now operates with a bed compacity of 90, and the special detention unit (SDU) is temporarily closed.  In 2006 corrections processed over 2,800 bookings of inmates with crimes ranging from Minor in possession to Murder 1.  In 2007 as part of a reduced remodel we are reorganizing our larger cells to make a safer enviroment for officers and inmates, and also we are looking into ways to remodel our old Special Detention Unit to build more space.
