In accordance with WAC 246-215-230, a pre-opening inspection is required by the health officer to determine compliance with regulations before issuing a food service permit to an espresso stand or mobile food unit, and following extensive remodeling of an existing facility. An inspection may be required for the renewal of a permit, before issuing a new permit to an existing food service establishment, and/or for an existing food service establishment when the ownership has changed.
Please contact this office at least five (5) working days prior to the contemplated opening and arrange for a pre-opening inspection. All construction and cleaning must be completed prior to the pre-opening inspection. In addition, all equipment must be in place and functioning at the time of the pre-opening inspection. Your annual operating fee is due and payable at the time of your pre-opening inspection. Fees are based on establishment type:
- Mobile unit
(potentially hazardous food) $150.00
- Mobile unit (non-potentially hazardous food) $100.00
- Espresso (mobile & booth - classified as limited food service) $100.00
Please note that Environmental Health Services licenses owner/operators of food service establishments, not the facility.
If you have any questions regarding the plan review, or if you need further assistance, please contact the Environmental Health Food Safety Program by calling (360) 417-2258.
