The Clallam County Juvenile and Family Services Department has numerous responsibilities. The major responsibilities are:
1. Detention: To provide a safe and secure facility for youth in custody, providing services such as food, clothing, medical care, recreation, education, religious opportunity, and necessary resources for other specific needs.
2. Community Supervision: To provide monitoring and counseling services for youth to assure compliance of requirements and assist youth in community programs and activities.
3. Programs: To continue to utilize available resources such as Consolidated Juvenile Services (CJS), Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration (JRA), Governor's Juvenile Justice (GJJAC) in order to supplement programs offered by the County.
4. Departmental Coordination: To assure the effective coordination between the County Commissioners, Superior Court Judges, County Clerk, Prosecutor's Office, Public Defender's Office, Sheriff's Office, and all other departments related to the administration of juvenile justice.
5. Facility: To maintain adequate accommodations for youth and staff to function in a safe environment.
6. Administration: To provide necessary resources and direction to staff and community. To assure budget resources are utilized for the maintenance of professional staff training and services to youth. To work with all related departments to assure cooperation and effective administration of programs and funds
